Very Good Amp Co.: SLAP ECHO & FUZZ - Cabronita/Princeton

Australia: https://signalchain.com.au Global: https://www.verygoodampco.com/ Alrighty, here we have two typically classy offerings from Jon at Very Good Amp Co. The Slap Echo is exactly that: a dedicated 'slapback' delay with two settings - 40ms and 150ms - along with a blend control and boost switch and soft-switch true bypass. You can muck with the settings via internal trimmers but the stock settings sound great to me. FUZZ is a an old-school fuzz with a heap of control. Everything from woolly Fuzz Face through to snarling Maestro tones are in this little guy - all of them good. I enjoyed playing with these pedals so much I made another video, very similar, but with a Gibson Les Paul Special (P90s). You can view that one at https://youtu.be/VKtd16kwJRk I mention Mr Glyn's 'TheTron' pickups during the video. Very Good Amp Co. Slap Echo BASS DEMO

This is the Very Good Amp Co. Slap Echo and it’s a super inspiring tool for bassists. Proud to be one of the first bassists to demo this device. In fact, this pedal made me write these lines. I love it when that happens! 🤩 Adds just the right amount of tasteful delay. I find this setting *beautiful* and most present on bass, but standard Time down mode provides a very subtle preamp-like thickening that I also totally recommend. - I didn’t mess with the internal settings, but they’re also there for those looking to further customize how this pedal responds! The Boost switch also does exactly that. - Tone: Fender Mustang Bass, Hartke HD500 amp set flat. NO other pedals used in this demo— just the Slap Echo.

Very Good Amp Co. Fuzz BASS DEMO

Very Good Amp Co. Fuzz BASS DEMO

This is the Very Good Amp Co. Fuzz and it makes a perfect vintage-style fuzz for bass. So neat toggling between standard “Down” mode & Hi-Output “Up” mode. As an added bonus to the Tone knob, it has a “Width” knob that lets you control the bass content of the fuzz. In my opinion, that’s the true secret sauce as I worked to balance it with the Tone and find my fav settings. No low end loss here! I love the way lower gain sounds at this stage, allowing things to stay thick, but with sizzle. - UP MODE⬆️: Shown 2nd! OMG. 🤩 I dig how the higher output and added compression tightens the fuzz— and it sparked my inspiration to crank up the gain a bit due to increased control over dynamics. This setting is a true gem for bassists— no matter your preferred technique. This mode can get super loud, too, kind of like a boost. In love! - Tone: Fender P Bass w/ Rotosound strings, Hartke HD500 amp set flat. NO other pedals used in this demo— just the Fuzz.

Very Good Amp Co. EP Drive BASS DEMO

This is the EP Drive from Very Good Amp Co. and I LOVE it. It moved onto my pedalboard for this demo and now it won’t leave. 😂❤️ It’s a low gain overdrive pedal with an Echoplex-style Preamp. You can also switch the order of the circuits! As a bass player, I find that this unit gives me a delicious amount of natural sounding break-up. I tend to favor it with the gain cranked higher and the Preamp at unity gain running into the drive. It pushes the drive a little harder and colors my tone a bit more. ALL without loss of low-end— and I didn’t really need to mess with the tone or hi/low cut switches. 😍 For the Preamp: 1st I show my completely unaffected tone, and then I show you the sound of the Preamp at unity. I love the slightly warmer, rounder tone enhancement. Pairs well with all of my basses & makes a nice “always-on.” Neat to be able to set it as a boost, if I ever want to. Tone: Fender P Bass w/ Rotosound strings, Hartke HD500 amp set flat. Very Good Amp Co - EP Drive - Dual Overdrive Echoplex Preamp Tones

Very Good Amp Co - EP Drive - Dual Overdrive Echoplex Preamp Tones

I met Jon Armellino from Very Good Amp Co. a while back - he's a guy who cares the utmost about making a great product, and I have seen him iterate the vision design several times until he felt it was right. He's never shy about taking feedback and asks a ton of good questions - and you can tell when you play his EP Drive that he has been iterating the guts of the pedals just as must if not more than the branding/look & feel of his overall company and product line. I really enjoyed the spanky-ness and slight velcro rip texture on the front of the notes, especially with a telecaster neck and middle. The pedal features a high low cut on dedicated switches and this gives the pedal a simple to dial in approach, leaving the player with only Gain, Level and Tone to shape the high end further. There is also a built in boost that you can vary the signal order with - before gain or after gain. This showcase focuses more on before gain, to push the EP Drive to a wonderfully amazing place that has as the crash and bang of an amp over the edge, but also a deeply satisfying range of lows and low mids. The tones and feel are 100% dialed, and I just love the clean clean design by Bruce Forbes - as a fellow graphic designer, I applaud that stark white/gray minimalist and typography and pattern driven aesthetic when done well. The enclosure is a beautiful white textured Gorva. Signal chain here is my Nash T57 Tele, Lollar Pickups, Very Good EP Drive, into my Milkman Super Creamer and into the iZotope Spire Studio. Real spring reverb is from the Super Creamer.
